May is a Good Time to Plan Your Residential Air Conditioning Inspection

When you place a service call for home AC repair, it’s a good idea to take advantage of that time and ask the technician to perform an overall residential air conditioning inspection while he is there; especially if you have noticed a few signs that your furnace or cooling system are not up to par.

Have your residential air conditioning technician to check out your system if you have noticed some of the items below:

  • Poor air quality in the home and a higher incidence of allergies
  • Heating and cooling system is cycling too frequently
  • Uneven air flow from registers that differs from room-to-room
  • Damp, musty odor in the home upon entering
  • The heater does not put out warm enough air during winter
  • The AC does not feel cool enough during summer
  • If you have zone units, are they making noise and are they working properly
  • Are your ducts properly installed; are the right sizes being used throughout
  • Is your thermostat located in the correct place in the home; does it need moved or replaced, and is it programmable
  • How old is your unit; do you need new AC installation or will home AC repair suffice

Be sure to make a check list of items to go over with your heating and air specialist, especially if you have an older HVAC system. A reputable company will have years of training and experience in all areas of heating and cooling, and can guide you in the right direction. It’s always best to deal with an established company so you know they will be around for routine and annual maintenance when you need them. They will make sure your furnace and cooling system are in great working condition and can meet the demands for keeping you comfortable throughout all seasons.

If is determined that you will need new AC installation, ask your service tech to install an Energy Star qualified system. This will save you money over time, and it will also benefit the environment as far as providing affordable, efficient and cleaner heating and cooling. During the AC installation process, you can also inquire about cleaning or replacing your duct work, or installing a whole house air filtration system that can substantially cut down on allergens in the home. This will help to filter out dust mites, pet dander, mold spores, pollen, and other air borne particles that can trigger allergic reactions.

May is a good time to schedule your residential air conditioning check up before the hot summer season sets in. Plan to schedule a reputable company such as Atlanta Heating and Air Conditioning. They have been servicing Atlanta, Doraville, Brookhaven, Midtown, Dunwoody, Buckhead, Morningside, Little Five Points, Decatur, and more for 40 years and counting.
