Things to Consider When Buying Central AC

Buying-AC

While opting to install a central air conditioning unit may seem extravagant, there are factors to consider before opting to buy a split type or window type air conditioner. Central air conditioning has its pros and cons. But before thinking of the cons, try to consider the benefits if you decide to have one installed.

There are some factors that could affect your decision making process in purchasing central air conditioning.  Depending on your budget and your willingness, these factors can help you decide:

  1. Permanence

Is your home rented or owned?  Do you think you will stay in your place of business for a long time?  Central air conditioning units are pretty expensive to install especially if you do not have ductwork in your home.  If you are just about to build a home, having provisions for ductwork may be a good idea if you are looking into installing a central ac.  Business places or offices are much more likely to have ductwork integrated into the building structure.  Since business hours most likely is a fixed schedule, having a central ac installed can prove to be economical because most rooms in the building would likely need cooling

  1. Convenience

Central air conditioning units provide convenience by making sure that all the rooms are of the same temperature.  This is most likely practical for offices and places of business.  However, central air conditioning will cool your whole home or apartment, even in areas that do not need it.  This is one of the disadvantages of having central ac.  Unoccupied rooms would be cooled.  This is definitely not economical.

  1.  Health reasons

Central air conditioning units use filters to provide cleaner air to breathe.  Central AC is perfect for those with allergies, especially those allergic to dust.  These filters reduce the particles that you breathe in.  If you or your children have a history of allergies, the central ac would be a better option.  This would be better than window type air conditioners because its filter can get filthy in a short span of time.  This can be a cause for allergens to fly around the room which can be dangerous for people who have allergies.

  1. Almost virtually maintenance-free

Central air conditioning units require little maintenance than any other type of air conditioning.  However, the downside is, you have to worry about mold and mildew.  If the place is rented, make sure that your landlord maintains the air ducts regularly.  If you own the place, make sure that you take note of when was the last time you had the ductwork cleaned.
